Our trip down memory lane of the past ten years of Extreme Community Makeover takes us to 2012. During that year, ECM expanded its reach into the Elyria and Swansea neighborhoods. We had already been working in the Globeville neighborhood for a few years and those three neighborhoods face some similar challenges, so it just made sense to work in all three areas.
One of the goals of hosting Work Days is to give residents and volunteers an opportunity to feel more connected to their neighbors and to their community, which we have been doing for the past ten years. A Volunteer Spotlight post on our blog recently shares the story of a volunteer who has lived in Denver for six years and said that "volunteering with Extreme Community Makeover was the first time I really felt connected to the community". Read the full post here. If you would like to feel more connected, join an ECM Work Day sometime soon!Sincerely,Angela Bomgaars |
