The Neighborhood That Has Something for Everyone
The La Alma/Lincoln Park neighborhood is definitely a Denver treasure and one of the neighborhoods where Extreme Community Makeover works. In previous years, it was voted one of the nation's Ten Great Neighborhoods by the American Planning Association. It is also one of Denver's oldest neighborhoods and has a lot to offer. Here are some highlights to check out the next time you're in the neighborhood.
First Friday Art Walk on Santa Fe
The First Friday Art Walk is, perhaps, the most popular well-known event that takes place in the La Alma/Lincoln Park neighborhood. It's hosted by the Denver's Art District on Santa Fe. The monthly event gathers a lively crowd each first Friday of the month (6 p.m. to 9 p.m.), as art enthusiasts get to enjoy and peruse the largest concentration of art galleries in Colorado.
Interstate Kitchen and Bar
If you are looking for a good happy hour venue, Interstate is a good pick (as well as a great sit down option ). ECM has enjoyed numerous volunteer happy hour events at Interstate. They provide comfort food classics, with a nice, charming atmosphere.
Renegade Brewery
Let's face it, Coloradans love their beer and Renegade is the place to go in La Alma/Lincoln Park for beer lovers. The local brewery has won numerous awards, including Best Neighborhood Brewery in 2012 and Best Taproom Ambiance in 2013 from Westword, along with Best New Brewery in 2012 from 5280 Magazine.
Buntport Theater
Buntport is a 16 year old theater that was created by six college grads/collaborators who write, direct and perform all of their own work. They offer year-round performances and workshops for all ages. Denver's Westword categorizes the theater as, "Denver’s premiere theatrical endeavors."
Su Teatro
Su Teatro is a Cultural and Performing Arts Center that is a multidisciplinary Chicano/Latino cultural arts center. The center is a non-profit art complex that celebrates the Latino culture with plays, concerts and film events.
Artwork Network
The Artwork Network gallery was founded in 2004, originally an "Art Rotation" business. They are growing into their name and offer other services, such as an art gallery, art consultation, an event center and more. Extreme Community Makeover will have its annual fundraiser, Art is in the Air, at Artwork Network again this year on Friday, November 11, from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m.
