Jennifer is a stay-at-home mom and she definitely has her hands full. That is why it was such a relief when Extreme Community Makeover came knocking on her door. To her surprise, ECM offered to help her with some overdue home improvement projects. Getting her backyard picked up, weeded and organized was definitely a project that was long overdue.145 LowellRight away, on the neighborhood Work Day, Jennifer was positively surprised. There were more volunteers than she had envisioned, and they all came energized and ready to work. Jennifer was thrilled to see each volunteer's positive energy and hard work ethic. "They kept asking for more work to do," Jennifer says with a smile on her face."We were able to do so much more, like clean the gutters and also weed the alley," says Jennifer. The volunteers were there to help, and they definitely helped beyond her expectations. Jennifer also learned that some volunteers came from different states. She thought that was great."Connecting with ECM has helped me to feel safer in my neighborhood and gave me the human connection. These are the most important things to me," states Jennifer. She is looking forward to also being a volunteer with Extreme Community Makeover in the future, once her little ones are a little older."I've come to learn about other cool nonprofits in the area too," expresses Jennifer. She attributes her experience with ECM as sparking a fire to learn more about other organizations in the neighborhood - each helping to make a positive difference in her community.Due to her positive and energizing experience with Extreme Community Makeover, Jennifer is inspired to be a good neighbor in her neighborhood. She understands that when a community is clean and well-kept on the outside, it creates positive vibes on the inside,  spreading throughout the entire community.
