Fuel Our Future : Let’s Get ECM a New Truck!
For the past 13 years, our truck has been the backbone of our volunteer days—hauling supplies, picking up trash and debris, and helping us reach the people we serve. It is even affectionately referred to as the “Golden Knight”. However, the current lifespan of the truck may be nearing it's end and we would like to get a newer to us truck before being in a position where we are left without a truck.
Over the years, the catalytic converter has been stolen, leading to a repair that leaves the check engine light on constantly. A brick was thrown through the back window when someone tried to steal the truck, leading to a steering column replacement that has separate keys for the door and the ignition. The passenger side door key lock is messed up to the point that a key can’t even be used to open the door, since someone tried to break in that way as well. The windshield is cracked. The seatbelt struggles to lock. And the truck was totaled because of hail damage many years ago. In spite of all these challenges, this truck has served its purpose for many years.
But it’s time to start looking for our next truck. A new truck would allow us to continue our mission without disruption. Replacing this vehicle is not simply an upgrade—it’s a critical need that will allow our programs to continue running smoothly and safely.

And in case you’re wondering, we wouldn’t get rid of our current truck. We would transition that truck into focusing on transporting tools and supplies or being a second truck for trash support on big days, for as long as it keeps running. But the new truck would become the primary truck, doing everything the current truck is doing and hopefully, even more!
