Extreme Teams Spotlight : Katelin

Katelin Edwards - Supplies Team

What is your story about how you got involved in Extreme Community Makeover?

I got involved in Extreme Community Makeover through my company when we participated in an ECM Work Day as volunteers. My colleague was actually the one who found ECM; we were looking for an outdoor volunteer opportunity since we wanted to be COVID-cautious, so ECM was perfect!

Why are you on the Supplies Team?

I like to say, "I did not choose the Supplies Team, the Supplies Team chose me." I did not actively seek a spot on the Supplies Team and ultimately joined the team because it was in desperate need of some members. However, I have learned that the Supplies Teams has many perks such as being able to collaborate with both work day volunteers and Extreme Teams members in a meaningful way.

What are you looking forward to about being the team leader this year?

I am looking forward to really getting to know fellow leaders and other members of the ECM community.

What is a memorable experience from an ECM Work Day?

I think my favorite memory was actually during my company's volunteer day. We spent most of our time helping a gentleman with a very overgrown spot in his backyard and he was so so grateful and brought us beers and sodas afterwards.

If you had one sentence to describe what ECM is about, what would you say?

ECM is about bringing people together from all walks of life for the purposes of building a welcoming community and generating long-lasting pride in the places we call home.

Anything else would you like to share?

An added perk that not a lot of people may know about when it comes to volunteering with Extreme Teams is its local restaurant partnerships can expose you to some awesome restaurants you may not have known about before!
