Why People Volunteer with ECM
Extreme Community Makeover is a very unique volunteer opportunity. Both organizations and individuals connect with ECM’s values, experiences and systems. HPM Contracting chose to volunteer as a company for a second time after having a great experience last year.
“One of our views is collaboration, and so finding those opportunities where we can collaborate with someone like Extreme Community Makeover and make a difference with hands on, boots on the ground kind of work means a lot to us.”
ECM is proud to encourage collaboration and community connection, helping organizations with team building but also connecting Denver’s residents to the city. When Extreme Teams member Tyler moved back to Denver after college he was looking for something to do to connect him with the city and joining the Fundraising Team was the perfect opportunity for him. He found ECM online and said it was easy to get connected. HPM Contracting backed up Tyler’s sentiments saying, “you make it so easy to work with you.”
A high school student volunteering to get her service hours for her school found ECM fit her values as well. She compared it to the fun she had building a house with Habitat for Humanity.
“I really like to do yard work, I think it’s really fun. Now I am getting to pull weeds and also get service hours for it so I’m pumped.”
ECM makes it easy for people to get involved, all they need to do is sign up and show up in the neighborhood for the Work Day. As HPM contracting put it, “it's one of those fun, meaningful ways that people can just show up, get dirty, get stuff done, and make a difference.”
