Board of Directors Spotlight - Jeremy
Jeremy Jones recently joined the ECM Board of Directors and Projects Extreme Team. Keep reading to hear more from Jeremy about his experience being on the ECM board.
What is your professional background/experience and how do you bring that to the ECM board?
I have 12 years of experience raising philanthropic revenue for higher education and child advocacy organizations through skilled fundraising, marketing/communications, and event planning. This experience offers me relevant and strategic opportunities to advise the organization's revenue generation goals and initiatives.
How did you initially get connected to Extreme Community Makeover?
I learned of ECM through Randy Fons, the current Board Chair, with whom I worked at a prior organization. The organization was looking to strengthen the board by recruiting a member with communications and fundraising experience, and I was in search of a volunteer board opportunity based in Denver that offered an active, hands-on way to get involved with both the board and the hands-on work that drives the mission and impact.
What about ECM’s mission drew you to join the board?
I was drawn to the mission's emphasis on partnering with Denver communities on home and neighborhood improvement projects that help residents thrive and feel supported, welcomed, and proud of where they live. I am especially inspired that this work is based in dignity, relationship, and respect for our neighbors.
How has being on the board enhanced/changed your view of ECM?
My board service with ECM has helped me see the transformative impact of volunteers coming together in partnership with Denver residents to improve their communities. This work has helped me see the deep joy, sense of pride, and real relationship building that results when people come together to help others. The transformative impact of ECM's mission has also highlighted the incredible opportunity for individuals, businesses, and foundations to invest in ECM so that the organization can expand capacity to support more communities.
How do you see ECM’s impact on Denver neighborhoods?
ECM's impact instills a sense of pride, respect, and community in Denver residents when they partner with ECM to improve their neighborhoods. ECM's impact motivates residents to better care for their communities over time and results in meaningful, ongoing relationships among volunteers, residents, and staff. ECM's cumulative impact in the neighborhoods it serves results in a better-connected, uplifted, and thriving Denver community.
