June Extreme Endeavors: A Volunteer's Perspective
| June is always one of our busiest volunteer months of the year, since the weather is ideal for home projects, people have a little more flexibility in their schedules, and we're running Work Days multiple times a week. When we have so many volunteers, it's nice to hear from them about their perspective of what their experience volunteering with Extreme Community Makeover means to them. Here's a snapshot of what that looks like from someone who volunteered last month. “I wanted to send a thank you note for allowing me to participate in your organization. I have learned a lot from just my last two projects. These projects have taught me the value of working with a community and new people. | Volunteer Happy Hour : June 20 Our next Volunteer Happy Hour is coming up on Thursday, June 20 from 5:30-7:00 pm at The Crafty Fox in the Globeville neighborhood. Come to learn more about volunteer opportunities and how to get involved, while connecting with others who like to volunteer. |
| Painting with a Purpose : June 30 We are going to have another chance to get your hands dirty through painting...but painting with a purpose! We will be at the Painting with a Twist Studio in LoDo on Sunday, June 30 from 11:15 am-1:30 pm. Tickets are $42, which includes food. You can purchase drinks separately at the studio. We'll be painting the Denver skyline. And 75% of all the proceeds will be donated to ECM! Get your tickets here. |
Elitch Gardens : July 13, 20, & 27
How would you like to be behind the scenes at Elitch Gardens? We have an opportunity to help staff their concessions areas, while raising funds for next year's Go: Westwood project! I went to it this past weekend and it was busy the whole time and really fun since I got to serve beer and margaritas all afternoon. Here's how it works. We need to get a group of 5 people to cover a shift from 12:00-5:00 pm and another 5 people to cover a shift from 5:00-10:00 pm on the following dates: Saturday, July 13; Saturday, July 20; and Saturday, July 27. If we get all 30 shifts filled, we will raise $1,665 for the Go: Westwood project for next year. Feel free to invite friends to join you as well. Sign up here.
