The TrashBlitz Event - October 25-31

Denver-Recycles.jpg

Denver Recycles is excited to share that the TrashBlitz event is coming to Denver! This self-guided volunteer event offers Denverites the chance to participate in a community-driven project aimed at better understanding local litter – the type of material, brand, and quantity of plastic pollution present in our environment. Using the data collected by volunteers, the TrashBlitz organizer, 5Gyers, will use the information to create and support future efforts that address waste reduction and litter prevention. Other event sponsors include the Inland Ocean Coalition and Into the Sea.

How it works:

  • Volunteers sign up to participate in the Denver TrashBlitz event, October 25-31.

  • Volunteers are assigned to randomly-generated and predetermined locations in Denver and are instructed to collect and record litter from this location during the week of October 25-31. Alternatively, volunteers can opt to participate from the comfort of their homes and categorize the types and quantity of plastic thrown away during this week instead.

  • Volunteers document plastic using the web-based TrashBlitz app.

  • TrashBlitz will share the results of the event in spring 2021.

Here’s how YOU can participate:
