2020 SCHEDULE
Thank you for reading our first edition of Extreme Endeavors for 2020! If you are a planner, you will appreciate this message, since it includes the full schedule of how you can do good through Extreme Community Makeover this year. Even if you're not a planner, just save this message for future reference. I am excited to embark upon a year of stepping into our core mission of building stronger communities "one block at a time". A number of opportunities exist to get involved this year, so I hope you will join us for the journey.
If you like to learn more about organizations before getting involved, our Volunteer Happy Hours are a great way to find out more about Extreme Community Makeover. We also host events such as the Spring Kickoff and Art is in the Air that help strengthen the work we're doing as we build community and financial support. Here is the list of events we are hosting this year:
- Volunteer Happy Hour on Tuesday, February 11 from 5:30-6:30 pm - RSVP here
- Spring Kickoff on Friday, March 13 from 6:30-8:30 pm - RSVP here
- Volunteer Happy Hour on Thursday, May 14 from 5:30-6:30 pm - RSVP here
- Volunteer Happy Hour on Wednesday, August 26 from 5:30-6:30 pm - RSVP here
- Art is in the Air on Thursday, November 5 from 7:00-9:30 pm
We are recruiting volunteers to join the Extreme Teams. Ten unique teams cover volunteer roles integral to the Work Days running smoothly and efficiently. Read more about the teams here or check out the website. The time commitment includes:
- Kickoff & Training Meeting on Monday, February 24 from 6:30-8:30 pm
- Debrief Meeting on Monday, October 26 from 6:30-8:30 pm
- Sign up for three (3) Work Days on dates that you choose
Work Days are a great way to get out in the community and make a difference, while having fun and getting to know your neighbors. Churches, companies, families, individuals, organizations, schools, and any other group you can put together are welcome to volunteer. We can accommodate groups from 5-500 people. Here are the dates for 2020:
- Saturday, April 4
- Saturday, May 9 - Go: Westwood
- Tuesday, June 9 - Real Estate Industry Work Day
- Saturday, June 20
- Thursday, June 25
- Tuesday, July 7
- Saturday, July 18
- Thursday, July 23
- Saturday, August 8
- Saturday, September 12
- Saturday, October 17
Work Days will take place from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the eight Denver neighborhoods where ECM works.
| Maybe you want to tie your fitness goals into your volunteer goals. If so, consider running individually or getting a relay team together for the Colfax Marathon on Sunday, May 17 and running on behalf of ECM as a charity partner. Or step up your involvement through opportunities to join the advisory board for Extreme Yard Care, the social enterprise of ECM, or the board of directors for ECM. |
