Renewed Belief

This past weekend, we started hosting Work Days. Even though the day looked different (staggered start times, wearing masks, etc.), it was great to get people out volunteering again! We'll dive into the details of how things will look this year a little later, but for now I want to share this month's volunteer story from Ginger, who is the leader of the Survey Team. Read the full story on the blog.

A number of the neighbors that we help are older people who have lived in their homes for a long time and want to keep up with the outside appearance of their house but are unable to do so. Many of them express their gratitude for being helped with something that they could never have accomplished on their own because of health issues or because they don’t have anyone to help them. They say that their belief in the goodness of others has been renewed. Read Ginger's story here.

Volunteer : Work Days

Volunteering at ECM Work Days will look different this year, but following these guidelines should keep everyone safe, while having an enjoyable volunteer experience. We will stagger groups in order to keep the group sizes where they need to be. For example, each smaller group will have a different start time, lunch time, and end time so volunteers aren't all together at the same time. Here are the available dates.

2020 Dates:

  • Thursday, June 25

  • Tuesday, July 7

  • Saturday, July 18

  • Thursday, July 23

  • Saturday, August 8

  • Saturday, September 12

  • Saturday, September 26

  • Saturday, October 17

Volunteer : Individual Projects

If you're not ready to be around other people, yet you would still like to volunteer, ECM can connect you with a specific project where you set the day and time directly with the resident, independent of an ECM Work Day. As you might imagine, we don't have as many volunteers on the schedule this year, yet the requests for assistance haven't decreased. Right now there are a handful of projects that could use volunteers to follow-up.

Volunteer for an individual project - Sign-up

 * In the last line of the registration form that says "Any other questions?", please write "Individual Project"

 * You will be contacted with more details about a possible project from there
