Transition

And so, another season ends for Extreme Community Makeovers. Weather wise, our last workday was perfect! The day spoke of vibrant fall colors, community, and of course change. Autumn marks the end to all the hard work done during spring and summer.  My thoughts this day were about transition, as our world has been going through much of this lately. Words and creativity escape me for this blog, I suppose my being, my mind, my spirit already transitioning to the next chapter of my life. So, I will leave you with these quotes about transition/change.

Leaves are verbs that conjugate the seasons.
— Gretel Ehrlich
We have fallen out of belonging. Consequently, when we stand before crucial thresholds in our lives, we have no rituals to protect, encourage, and guide us as we cross over into the unknown.
— John O'Donohue
She knew this transition was not about becoming someone better but about finally allowing herself to become who she’d always been.
— Anonymous
A lot of people resist transition and therefore never allow themselves to enjoy who they are. Embrace the change, no matter what it is; once you do, you can learn about the new world you’re in and take advantage of it.
— Nikki Giovanni
Some people believe holding on and hanging in there are signs of great strength. However, there are times when it takes much more strength to know when to let go and then do it.
— Ann Landers
You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of.
— Jim Rohn
Times of transition are strenuous, but I love them. They are an opportunity to purge, rethink priorities, and be intentional about new habits. We can make our new normal any way we want.
— Kristin Armstrong

No one can escape change…transition; let us take solace in knowing we are in this together, holding each other up, giving a hug, providing a smile, holding space. Some wise, but simple suggestions from our volunteers at Landing Place Church, Millionaire Mastermind, Rocky Vista University Surgery Club, and Individual contributors, “When faced with unexpected change, I move/exercise, I call my mom. I found that if I find my community it helps make transition easier to cope with.  I get out in nature, hike, or go to a park.  Spending time with people I love, people who make me smile and laugh.”

The earth is still turning... The seasons enter, play their part, bow and move on every year, one to the next, never overstaying their welcome but always, ALWAYS returning. There is great comfort in that.
