May Extreme Endeavors: I GOT SO MUCH MORE

Along with everything else right now, ECM is pivoting our program model for the year. Read on to learn more about what volunteer projects will look like this year. But before we get to that, this month’s volunteer story comes from Dusty, who is the leader of the Video Team. Find the full story on the blog and watch one of the amazing videos Dusty put together.

I’ve always had a longing to tell stories, so when I stumbled across an organization searching for a video producer, I volunteered. I joined Extreme Community Makeover because I wanted to develop my skills as a video editor but I got so much more. Read Dusty’s story here.

Volunteer : Work Days

Volunteering at ECM Work Days will look different this year, since the number of people per Work Day will be capped to follow the public health guidance put in place. Volunteers will also be asked to bring their own masks and work gloves. Volunteering can still take place safely and effectively, just in smaller groups. Here are the available dates. Please reach out with any specific questions as they apply to your group.

2020 Dates:

  • Saturday, June 20
  • Thursday, June 25
  • Tuesday, July 7
  • Saturday, July 18
  • Thursday, July 23
  • Saturday, August 8
  • Saturday, September 12
  • Saturday, October 17

Volunteer as an individual (1-4 people) – Sign-up
Volunteer as a group (5+ people) – Sign-Up

Volunteer : Individual Projects

If you would rather volunteer on your own time, that option is available as well. Get your family or a small group of friends together, or volunteer on your own, and ECM will help connect you directly with a resident who has requested helping hands on an outdoor project. You can arrange a time that works both for you and for the resident to go over and complete the project, independent of an ECM Work Day event, while maintaining the safety precautions currently in place.

 * Note – please write “Individual Project” in the last line of the registration form that says “Any other questions?”

Since ECM Work Days have been paused so far this year, our merchandise may not have made it into your hands yet. Here are the options (caps, keychains, notecards, and t-shirts) you can snag on a future Work Day or you can place an online order.
