Nowadays, companies understand the value of taking part in company volunteerism. It’s good to create a culture of giving back at the work place. Heritage Title Company, understands this principle and that is why they started Heritage Hearts in Partnership.
Heritage Hearts in Partnership was founded eight years ago. Heritage Title Company started the committee as a way to give back and do some good in Denver communities. It has also been a great way for Heritage Title to participate in giving back to the Denver communities with their clients and business partners.
“We consider our business partners to be attorneys, builders, lenders, investors, realtors, etc. Our business partner network is anybody that we do title and escrow for and we reach out to them to work on volunteer projects,” explains Jennifer.
“When you tell people we are going to go fix up a house and we tell them the stories of the ones we’ve done in the past, our partners get excited to participate with us,” says Jennifer. She also admits that getting out of the office to work with your hands is also a big plus. “People just love to help,” exclaims Jennifer.
Extreme Community Makeover has allowed Heritage Title, and their partners, a tangible way to participate in giving back to Denver communities. It is an experience that is much more than giving money.
“Donating money is great and it should be done,” Jennifer explains, “but giving back where you can also give of your time and energy is a wonderful experience and it has a way of centering you.” Jennifer admits that it’s easy to get caught up in our own lives and forget about our neighbors.
Fixing up a home seems simple, but it has a tremendous impact. It changes the hearts of the people volunteering and the recipients. “It brings that sense of pride back to the community and it brings such joy and warm feelings to your own heart,” expresses Jennifer.
Jennifer has also seen how volunteering has increased relationships amongst Heritage Title employees. “Employees are all over the state of Colorado and we don’t typically work all together at one location. Volunteering has allowed us to get to know each other,” states Jennifer. “I had an opportunity to get to know a salesperson in another region and now we feel comfortable calling each other to ask for help. We were able to establish a relationship outside of work,” Jennifer says.
“This is such a relational business so it’s helpful to find something in common with your colleagues that brings you together in additional ways to real estate,” Jennifer expresses.
Heritage Hearts in Partnership has been a bridge for employees to give back to their communities, work on projects with business partners, and build relationships. Jennifer’s heart, as well as other employees, has been truly changed through their experience volunteering. It gives to give back!
